We would still have some tides due to the gravity of the sun, but they would be much smaller than the tides we currently have which have a big influence from the moon.

Another big difference: it would be darker at night! The earth’s rotation would also change – I read somewhere that the earth would spin faster so the day would only have about 8 hours. I wouldn’t know the calculations to work this out so can’t say for sure if this is correct, but the moon’s gravity definitely has an effect on our spin.

We might be able to adapt fairly easily as humans (I don’t know for sure how big a deal these things would be). However, it could also have a big effect on animal life who might rely on the moon to navigate, or live by tidal areas. We’re all connected to animal life in more ways than we realise through the food we eat (even fruit and vegetables have to be pollinated by insects) – what we call the ‘ecosystem’ of all the different parts of life connected together – so there could be some long term effects that are impossible to predict.
