• Question: How do you know if the solar system is running as well as they can?

      There are loads of sensors around our solar power systems measuring different things (mostly power, solar energy coming in, status messages from equipment).
      All these sensors are connected to dataloggers which send the readings to the internet.
      I take these readings and look at them to see how everything is performing and if something doesn’t look as good as it should I will try to work out if it’s a problem and if it is, what is the problem, and how can it be fixed.
      My favourite method is to compare all the components across a site against each other. They should be fairly tightly bunched so if something is more than ~10% below the others that’s usually a sign I need to take a look at what’s happening.
