There isn’t too much chaos that could be caused by lasers, really – I think there’s the potential for mis-use of any kind of research though. With lasers, the biggest problems in terms of mis-use currently are when people get hold of illegally powerful ones and shine them into people’s eyes with the hope of blinding them, or distracting them to make them crash a vehicle or something. Thankfully, there are laws against this, and these have worked to deter troublemakers from doing this.
