I don’t really call myself a scientist – but I work with scientists to help them share their work with the public. Although I have done scientific work in the past, I now spend my time writing and communicating the work of others.

I think my favourite part of science – whether doing it myself or working with others who do it – is that you’re seeing the future as it develops. New technology which will one day power our mobile phones, drive our cars, build our homes or cure our diseases is being worked on in the lab as we speak. Scientists get to help shape these developments, so it’s a really exciting area to be in!

For me, the best bit is knowing that the work I do is brand new. Nobody has ever seen the things I’ve seen before! It’s like being an explorer, only instead of going out into vast unknown wastelands, I’m looking through a microscope at the vast unexplored details inside the body.
