      My work helps people understand the importance of science and engineering.

      One effect is to help the government understand how important it is to fund these areas – so that they invest in university research and to spend money on schools to ensure we have enough engineers to keep our country running in the future.

      The work I do will hopefully one day help us to treat diseases of the brain like Alzheimer’s and cancer in a more effective way. So, this could improve people’s lives in a very direct way, which is something that motivates me a lot in my work.
